Abstract
This project is going to develop a restoration technique according to the ecosystem nutrient cycling for degraded Chamaecyparis forests due to natural soil acidification and podzolization processes caused by high precipitation and the chemical characteristics of Chamaecyparis. The nutrient input and output budget, environmental factors, and tree growth will be monitored for at least one year to find out the key factors which might cause the forest decline. Fertilization treatment will be tested according to the results from a green house sapling experiment.
