Abstract
This study focus on the seed storability and germinated machenism of the following 12 indicated tree species with planting or economic development potential: D. ferrea, D. philippensis, D. japonica, D. morrisiana, D. kotoensis, D. vaccinioides, Castanopsis cuspidata var. carlesii form. carlesii, Cyclobalanopsis gilva, C. longinux, C. morii, C. stenophylloide, and Pasania hancei var. ternaticupula. The objectives of this project are: 1. To investigate the germinated machenism and the conditions for germination of each species. The result will be a database for restoration and preservation of these species with economic development potential. 2. To identify the seed storage behavior of these economic speciesare orthodox or not, and show long-term seed storability if they are. The result could provide recommendations of preservation strategy of these species. 3. To provide seedlings for elementary research of these economic treespecies. Research of seed germination and storage behavior of C. gilva, C. longinux, and D. japonica were examined this year.
