Abstract
In order to understand the regenerative potential of Acacia confusa and Aluerites montana in Taiwan, 10 natural Acacia confuse and 9 Aluerites montana forests were surveyed. All woody plants with DBH ≥ 1cm present in the quadrates were identified, and their DBH were measured. The importance values index (IVI) of Acacia confusa and Aluerites montana are the first in each stand. The diameter structure curves of Acacia confusa and Aluerites montana population are all bell shaped in each stand. The results showed that the Acacia confusa and Aluerites montana population have a bad regeneration and reveal a regression phenomenon. Although there are many Acacia confusa and Aluerites montana seedlings under the forests, almost these seedlings could not grow to be saplings. We find that the Acacia confusa and Aluerites montana sapling appeared in forest edges and large gaps, the results showed the Acacia confusa and Aluerites montana belong to pioneer species or shade intolerant species.
