Forests play an important role in the sequestration of carbon dioxide, in order to achieve the goal of net zero emissions. To accurately estimate forest carbon sinks, the accurate estimation of forest stock and appropriate conversion coefficients are required. Meanwhile, due to various tree species and forest types of forests in Taiwan, it is necessary to collect relevant estimation formulas and coefficients for different species. By establishing a forest carbon sink conversion coefficient and data database, it can provide a unified basis for the estimation of forest carbon sinks in all fields in Taiwan, and reduce the calculation differences caused by different coefficients. In addition, due to the long process of forestry production and the high complexity of forest environmental factors, there is no generally accepted systematic method on how to include all forest management activities in the life cycle assessment of forest products. This project intends to confirm the calculation method of the life cycle assessment of wood products, build a database of carbon footprint inventory of wood products, and estimate the carbon footprint of wood as a raw material. The research results can make the carbon emissions of the forest management process transparent, provide the industrial entities and academic research units as the basis for carbon footprint calculation, and provide the basis for consumers to choose low-carbon wood products.
