Abstract
There are abundant bamboo resources in Taiwan. Bamboos are fast-growing, short term harvest species. The specific gravity and strength properties of bamboos will reach maxium at age of 3 to 5 year, therefore, bamboos are easy for use;However, hollows of bamboo makes them can not be achieved the same uniform standardization of industrial products. Bamboos are easy to be influenced mold, rot deterioration, or termites, then shorten their useful life. In recent years, with the transformation of economic activity, improved living standards and changes in the industrial structure of Taiwan's rural labor is less and labor costs are increased, making bamboo resources have been gradually losing business and management, and even being abandoned. To improve the durability of bamboo, the laminated bamboo lumber is a suitable product, there are a lots of industrial products in market, such as bamboo flooring, bamboo timber bookcase, bamboo handicrafts and so on. However, purely made ??of laminated bamboo bamboo lumber, in order to meet the demand for the use of strength, the thickness of the bamboo timber will inevitably reach a considerable extent, for example, 5-layer laminated bamboo veneer , the thickness is to approximately 15 ~ 18mm for bamboo flooring use, but it is not suitable for applications of 3C products , handheld devices, etc. The purpose of this study is the use of carbon fiber composite materials and bamboo veneer, to development bamboo-carbon fiber composite materials to improve the strength properties of bamboo, and to extend the application of bamboo market and improve Taiwan's bamboo resource dilemma.
