Abstract
The information of soil management for forest nursery soil in Taiwan is extremely scarce. The soil of container used in seedling cultivate for most forest nursery in Taiwan is purchased from outside. We measured the property of soil in fourteen forest nurseries, their soil porosity between 0.55-0.73，have nine nurseries their soil porosity above 0.6%, the pH value between 7.13-8.44, only four nurseries were below 7.5, the soil texture is loam, silt loam, sandy loam, only three nurseries is sandy loam but five of them is loam (L) and six is silt loam (SiL). This indicating the techniques of soil management for forest nursery in Taiwan is very poor. The effect of different soil source used in seedling container for seedling in the early growth of seedlings is not significant, and fallow farmland be used as afforestation must pay attention to afforestation drainage and fertilize dosage.
