Abstract
Cinnamomum kanehirae is one of the broadleaf tree species with 1st class. The log is the source to cultivate valuable Androdia cinnamomea fruit. Biotech companies invested forestation of this trees to obtain logs sustainable. Plants for forestation came from rooted cuttings which qualities of survival and growth were affected by aging scion gardens. Early plantations established indicated that ranks of survival rates were seedlings and tissue culture plants >plants from one- year-old scion gardens >3-year-old gardens >20-year-old gardens during the field test in 2012 and 2013. Because seed obtained difficultly in wild trees, tissue culture plants and scion gardens from them are the best materials for forestation. Morphological characters and performance in field test varied a lot. Biotech companies required identification of characters to verify these varieties for sure a good growth performance in the plantations they will establish. Furthermore we found wild trees have variation to resistant the infection of A. cinnamomea. This project try to propagate readily infected and health trees by tissue cultures and cuttings to support both industries of A. cinnamomea fruit and wood. Micropropagation systems for 5 clones of 10-years old trees selected in man-made plantation and 5 wild giant trees of Cinnamomum kanehiraewere conducted. The system included shoot multiplication, elongation, and rooting to form plantlet. Multiplication rates varied among clones. The best clones could produce more than 6.5 buds/explants after 3 months in culture. Root rates of elongation shoots induced from short buds reached more than 95%. Investigating of 4 scion gardens, the plant grown at Sun-moon-lake nursery, Nanto County had higher height and survival rates. Plants grown at Chunlin nursery, Ilan County produced cuttings after planting 1.5 years. Each plant could produce 500 cuttings. A scion garden with 600 trees occupied in a 0.1 ha produced 30,000 cuttings. Chemical analysis of logs derived from a plantation was investigated.Androdia cinnamomeastrains were maintained by using serial subcultures at room temperature or preserved at low temperature. To test the best combination ofA. cinnamomeastrains culturing in various weight of logs derived from different clones, strain B cultured with 1.0 kg logs of clone #1, 3, 4, and 8 gave the better growth.
