Abstract
More than hundreds of Camellia tree oil were produced and the oil property were analyzed. The results showed that the yield of oil from different sources differed ranging from 30~45%. The minor components such as tocopherol, sterol, and squalene also differed among different trees. While the fatty acid content, color, and volatile components, acid value, specific gravity…were much the same. Comparing oil manufactured from different extraction method, oil color and volatile components differed a lot, the minor components also differed, while the fatty acid content, acid value, specific gravity were almost the same.
Results of oral administration Camellia tree oil on blood pressure、 serum biochemical parameters and thoracic aorta histopathology in L-NAME treated mice showed that feeding with high dosage of Camellia tree oil significantly decreased the level of fasting blood glucose and elevated the ratio of HDL-C / LDL-C compared to other treated groups (p<0.05). The thickness of thoracic aorta in CBFO groups were thinner than that of L-NAME group (p<0.05). These results suggest that camellia oil can modulate the levels of blood lipid and lowering the risk of metabolic syndrome.
