一、A botanical garden has been recognized as an important indicator to represent how a country emphasizes upon diversity conservation, environmental protection and environmental education. Therefore, it is not only to take the responsibility of saving the original plant species in the country, but also to support various types of plant-related research conducted. Nowadays, Taipei Botanical Garden has attracted a lot of visitors for recreation and learning due to increasing in diverse exhibition and rich educational activities annually.
二、In order to enhance the quality of the facilities services and professional interpretation services in Taipei Botanical Garden, Taiwan Forestry Research Institute of Council of Agriculture has proposed the survey to analyze the cognitive function and satisfaction from a variety of users. According to the results, Taipei Botanical Garden can learn about the specific benefits gained in the existing botanical garden management methods, while providing a reference to a subsequent long-range strategy framing in management system.
三、The purpose of this study was aimed to collect data from two main types of visitors (general visitors and learning-group visitors) in Taipei Botanical Garden. The questionnaire survey was conducted since October to December, 2014. Total 461 valid questionnaires in general visitors and 182 valid questionnaires from learning groups visitors have been collected respectively. The visitors who come to participate in holiday-themed tours especially a series of interpreted activities have been specified as learning-group visitors. The rest were defined as the general visitors.
四、According to the results from the performance and important analysis (IPA) analysis, total 27 questions from two parts related to "Goals of Taipei Botanical Garden " and  "the services and facilities " were evaluated from general visitors. Two items, except to "navigation machine information integrity" and "two-dimensional barcode commentary service", have been identified in the degree of important improvement; others were fall on the degree of "keep the status". The average satisfaction scores (pass 60 points, up to 100 points) across the overall performance items were 78.30 points in “interpretation and information services" ; 81.69 points in “Cleanness and maintenance management"; however, 82.91 points in "the overall performance level and satisfaction". The most often identified items in the open-ended questions were the "cleaning and quantity in toilets" and "the quantity of trash" for the respondents.
五、Moreover, the results from the learning-group visitors have some similar response but scores higher from satisfaction. According to the results from the performance and important analysis (IPA) analysis, total 33 questions from three parts related to "the satisfaction of theme guided tours", "goals of Taipei Botanical Garden" and "the servics and facilities" were evaluated from learning-group visitors and have been identified in the degree of "keep the status" . The average satisfaction scores (pass 60 points, up to 100 points) across the overall performance items were 92.74 points in "interpretation and information services"; 87.38 points in “Cleanness and maintenance management”; however, 89.15 points in "the overall performance level and satisfaction" . The most often identified items in the open-ended questions were the positive responses as "Great !" and "Well done!” for the respondents.
六、Following up the results of the analysis, some suggestions related to compare the difference between satisfaction across the different attributes of visitors, and further analysis from longitudinal data were recommended and applied. In practice, some application for Taipei Botanical Garden were related to provide future interpretation and education facilities improvement plan proposed to improve public communication and the deeper and more worldwide functions from a capital city botanical garden applications, driving greater efficiency, and sustainable level in management strategies.
