執行成果摘要
In the cypress forests, forest management plans often cut the native cypress or remove t he snags and logs. The changes of cypress forest composition and structure must have an influence on associated biological community and biodiversity and health. The purpose of this study is to explore the dynamics of growth composition and structure of various cypress stands. Such as undisturbed natural cypress, different disturbed natural cypress and man-made forest after clearing cut. Further more assess the health and diversity index among the natural and different managed cypress stands. In the meanwhile, the project is to investigate Phytophthora spp in the rhizosphere of Chamaecyparis forest, and study the association of Chamaecyparis forest decline with Phytophthora spp as well. Adaptive management strategies are applied to approach the forest ecosystem management for conservation and sustainable management of cypress forest in Chilan Mt. area. The results could provide the science basis for sustainable management of cypress forest and the best benefits for the carbon sequestration, biodiversity, social and economics.
