There are many potentailly ediable ferns native tyo Taiwan. Acrostichium aureum is often used as a vegetable in SE Aisa. Phenological investigation showed that the most suitable collecting spore period is July-August. Solid medium with 50ppm Peters nutrient treatment is best culture condition for gametophte growth and young sporophyte production of Acrostichium aureum. Under such culture condition, female and male were produced after 3 and 5 wks culture. Young sporophyte initiated to be produced by fertilization after 7 wks culture. Almost half of gametophytes produced young sprophyte after 11 wks culture.
