Abstract
Urban parks and green areas can be birds' habitats, therefore, they provide city dwellers opportunities of closing to wild birds and enjoying the nature. However, the pedestrians in urban parks and green areas may not only decrease the wild bird populations but also disturb the birds' breeding behaviors. Since the pedestrian rates are high in most urban parks and green areas, the interaction between park pedestrians and birds indeed is an important issue to bird conservation and management. Nevertheless, studies on interactions of pedestrians and birds are very few in our country. To explore the impacts of pedestrians on wild birds, we plan to investigate the bird populations and assemblages, pedentrian rates, activity types and noise volumes in Taipei parks and green areas. The study will provide suggestions of pedestrian and bird management to urban park and green area administraions.
