Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the tree growth traits, longitudinal compressive strength, and ring characteristics of cypress in Chilai area. The tree growth traits is tree crown characteristics, included diameter at breast height, tree height, crown length, crown width etc.. The longitudinal compressive strength of corer is explored by Fractometer technique. The nine ring characteristics is investigated by x-ray scanning and ring analysis system. Finally, relationship between the tree growth and wood qualify is detected and understood by data and statistics method. These information could provide to forest management and practice for our ecological management.
In addition, the wood properties of Taiwan red cypress from SunLinShin area were expored. The fast growth tree have worse wood quality, and the slower growth tree have better wood properties.
