執行成果摘要
This 4-year’s project is proposed to evaluate the benefit of fastgrowing and high-cellulose tree species on carbon sequestration and energy saving in the pulping process. It is anticipated that energysaving and carbon-reducing tree varieties will be selected to facilitate forestation, pulp and paper industries. In this first year, Eucalyptus clones will be evaluated. Sample trees will be harvested.
Aboveground biomass, carbon content, wood major component and pulping property will be determined. Differences in benefit of carbon sequestration and energy saving in the pulping process among tree varieties will be analyzed and compared. The better energy-saving and carbon-reducing tree varieties will be primarily selected. The evaluative model will be primarily developed. Based on the primary results, the evaluation method will be finely modified and be extensively used in screening and applying of the target tree varieties, which are really characterized in energy-saving and carbon-reducing.
