Abstract
Most traditional methods used by ecologists and foresters to collect field data are time and manpower intensive, and the data are difficult for integration research. The propose of this project is applying the ecoinformatics techniques to forest management. The major method is establishing an EML-based data management system for automating collection of field sensor data, such acoustical records, images, video records are being collected. Besides, the system can provide data storing, searching, downing, sharing, and integrating for research in public. Furthermore, knowing the characteristic and behavior of tourists by questionnaire survey, and the survey results can be provided to the forest administration as reference materials. The benefits of this project are making the Shanping work station being a model of ecological management site, and as a start of international collaboration. Moreover, the study results can provide authentic information for environmental protection, monitoring, and policy making to improve the facilities in Shanping.
