Abstract
1.The program is scheduled to establish 50 kinds of wood each year, the number of files, including wood appearance of three facets, 10 times the cross-section solid photo, 50 times the three-section slices and 50 times the wood fiber, the annual establishment of 500 pen More than the number of stalls in the commercial timber query network for domestic timber processing industry and forestry research reference, the results provided at the same time to provide more information on wood identification, to speed up the identification speed. To provide commercial wood anatomical properties, physical properties and chemical properties of the test results and the establishment of the database to the domestic timber processing industry and academic research units reference, and with the Government to implement energy conservation and carbon reduction policy to promote the use of timber, Deep understanding and use, to achieve the purpose of effective use of forest resources. 2. Promotion of Woodcraft CultureIn this project, we aim to maintain the working areas of woodcraft classrooms and exchange information with people in the local forestry industry. We can provide technical consultation for them and learn about market problems and demands. The classrooms can also be used as the R &D bases for wood- and bamboo-made products, where unused, recycled, and waste materials are refurbished. Not only can the products be for sale but they can also be for educational and promotional use. This year, after trial stages such as designing, processing, and assembling, we have held events with the related people to promote 4 types of DIY products.3. Research on handmade paper traditional art items With respect to research on handmade paper traditional art items, three agenda will be carried out, i.e., (1) the new and old papermaking technologies; (2) specialty functional papers; (3) cultural and creative products development made of handmade paper.(1) Establishment of scientific database for standardization of restoring paper-based cultural relicsPaper-based cultural relics are important cultural assets of mankind. However, because the carbohydrate nature of the medium, they are liable to be affect“ed by various factors, such as light, humidity, temperature factors or irresistible external forces and become aged or damaged.Regardless of natural disasters, human errors, or natural aging, after cultural items are mounted for a period of time, as short as several years or as long as a century, they would require restoration and remounting. However, procedures for restoring often depend on the conditions of individual works or experience of the restorers. These resulted in inconsistent practices and end results. For experienced restorers, old cultural relics can often return to their former glory. However, for the less experienced practicians, it may mean the end of life for an artwork which is a great pity. This study proposes to collect the practical procedures and methods of domestic and foreign restoration organizations, to understand the causal reasons, analyze the benefits and shortcomings of the procedures and provide the information for the reference of restorers. In the meantime, the restorative materials collected during the study will be analyzed, and the results shall provide guidance to restorers in choosing the appropriate restorative materials.(2) Use of indigenous Taiwan tree species in the making of special functional papers“Special functional papers” are papers with specialized properties and uses. The papers have high-value addition and economic efficiency. Furthermore, these papers can be developed through the use of native log production with low productivity or reconsidering using abandoned production facilities to produce. Thus, in several advanced papermaking countries, many small mills would regard production of special functional papers as a priority strategy in sustainable development when retrofitting or remodeling the production lines. However, there is seemingly a lack of R&D effort in developing specialty papers here in Taiwan. This study purports to investigate the suitability of use indigenous tree species in the production of various special functional papers. The main objective is to allow the pulp and paper producers to grasp both raw material supply and the know-how in the production of special functional papers. 4. Establishment and Aroma Ingredient Analysis of Forest Honey Flavor WheelThe yearly yield of honey in Taiwan ranges from 3,000 to 6,000 tons, and its gross output goes from 500 to 800 million. Since the domestic yield does not meet the demand, the amount of the import is between 2,000 to 4,000 tons. Recently, due to the climate and pesticides, the yield in Taiwan decreased, and problems such as adulterated honey had long existed. That increases the demand for identifying honey quality; however, the analytic methods need to be more sensitive, rapid, and understandable to benefit honey producers, researchers, sellers, and customers. This study aims to establish a flavor wheel for forest honey, an improved analytic method. The ingredients of honey aroma will be analyzed, and the results of the qualitative and quantitative tests on honey volatile constituents will be provided to support the new method. 5.Calophyllum Inophyllum L. is a type of evergreen arbor growing along tropical and subtropical coasts. In Taiwan, it frequently serves as street tree. Its wood is hard, dense, seawater resistant, and vermin-proof, suitable for building ships and furniture. Its seeds are oily, traditionally used in daily lives. This study records the experiment where the extracts of compressed, solvent-extracted seeds were separated and purified. With spectrometer and chromatograph, the active ingredients of the extracts and the benefits of shielding ultraviolet were analyzed. The total flavonoid content, the anti-oxidative ability, and the free radical scavenging ability of the usable ingredients were also evaluated, from which key ingredients can be developed and benefit the related industries.
