Introduction

The exhibition room mainly introduces the processes and raw materials used in the production of handmade papers. Commonly seen Chinese painting and calligraphic papers are showcased here in some detail. For instance, questions with respects to what is called “mien” paper and what is “suan” paper; and what is the differences between so called “raw” and “well-done” papers? There are several kinds of handmade papers allowing visitors to touch and feel the texture as well. In addition, there are brief introductions to the art of mounting artwork pieces, such as what are the commonly seen styles of mounting; for different “cores”of artwork, what are the suitable ways to mount them, and how the surrounding colors shall match that of the artworks etc. When you visit this small and yet exquisite exhibition, you will find answers to all these questions.
