Development of Arboricultural Medicine System

Taiwan Forest Research Institution (TFRI) has established “Arboricultural Medicine Center” (AMC) to enhance tree medical research and providing multiple industry-government-academy information. AMC is composed of three divisions, “diagnosis and information center of forest diseases and pests center”, “tree health diagnosis” and “tree pruning”, providing integrated network and one-stop service. Regularly diagnosis of trees, furnishing accurate prescription, physical examination, promulgating prevention concepts and providing correct pruning and transplanting acknowledge are also executed by AMC.
Being pioneer of tree medicine project in Taiwan, energetic actions are also planned by TFRI to set up industry-government-academy cooperation model. Four major strategies: 1. Construction of arboricultural teaching curriculum cooperated with colleges; 2. Offering professional arboriculture training courses by AMC; 3. Development of arboricultural medicine certification and vocational training system; 4. Integrating industry-government-academy sources are under execution by AMC. AMC team has cooperated with Research Center for Plant Medicine of National Taiwan University to start a course teaches in tree health management in 2013. Cooperation with Workforce Development Agency is also on the way for setting up arboricultural medicine certification system. AMC team will also keep further cooperation with colleges and related companies, and suitable arboricultural medical class would be established soon in the future.
